Varsity Boys Basketball Coach

Coach Justin Zaleski is entering into his fifth season as the head coach of the Varsity boys basketball team at Crest High School.  In his four seasons at Crest, Coach Zaleski has helped guide the Chargers to a 63-43 overall record (41-23 SMAC record), a South Mountain Athletic Conference championship (2015), four consecutive berths in the NCHSAA 3A State Playoffs, and a runner up finish in the NCHSAA 3A Western Regional (2015).  He was also selected the SMAC Coach of the Year for the 2015-16 season.

Originally from Montgomery, Alabama and a graduate of Alabama State University, Coach Zaleski started his coaching career at Cowan Road Middle School in Griffin, GA.  During his 4 years at Cowan Road, the Panthers won two CGMSAL championships.  After leaving Cowan Road, Coach Zaleski next coached at Pinckneyville Middle School in Norcross, Georgia.  During his 7 years at Pinckneyville, Coach Zaleski helped build the Panthers into one of the most improved middle school basketball programs in Gwinnett County.   He also helped guide Pinckneyville to its first GCMS West Division championship in school history (2009-10).

In the fall of 2011, Coach Zaleski joined  the coaching staff at Berkmar High School in Lilburn, Georgia.  During his two years at Berkmar, Coach Zaleski served as the head coach of the Freshmen boys basketball team and one of the assistant coaches on the Varsity boys basketball team.  As part of the Berkmar program, Coach Zaleski assisted the Varsity team to consecutive appearances in the GHSAA Class 6A Elite 8.

In the summer of 2013, Coach Zaleski was selected to be the Varsity head coach at Crest High School.  In his first season (2013-14), the Chargers finished 14-10 (10-6 in the SMAC) and earned the #18 seed in the NCHSAA 3A Western Region.

In his second season (2014-15), the Chargers finished 23-5 (14-2 in the SMAC) and won the South Mountain Athletic Conference championship.  The Chargers also earned the #2 seed in the NCHSAA 3A Western Region, eventually finishing as the Western Region runner up.

In his third season (2015-16), the Chargers finished 15-12 (11-5 in the SMAC) and earned the #21 seed in the NCHSAA 3A Western Region.  He was also selected the SMAC Coach of the Year.

In his fourth season (2016-17), the Chargers struggled to a 11-16 finish (6-10 in the SMAC) and earned the #28 seed in the NCHSAA 3A Western Region.  The Chargers did manage to upset #8-Statesville in the first round of the playoffs, before losing to #9-South Point.
